"What do you think of Jo?" "Yeah, she's alright I guess." He shrugged and leant over to kiss her forehead, but got the top of her ear instead. "Thanks, my ear appreciates a little kiss now and then." "Well, if you let me turn on the light..." "Nah the moonlights romantic." "What ever you say... What about you?" "Hmmm?" Maggie moved in her bed and put her head on PJ's shoulder. "Jo?" "Seems quite nice. I'd hoped that we'd be good friends, God knows I need some." "What about me?" "I mean girl-friends," she slapped him lightly on his bare torso. "Well, if you go that..." "Don't say it," she slapped him again. "I mean I need some female friends, I mean I had Zoe and Dash and there's Chris, but..." "What?" PJ slipped his arm around her waist drawing her tighter. "I miss my friends in Melbourne Peej, there were never a shortage of people to talk to you if you had a problem, or to go somewhere with you or you know, just do the 'girlie' thing with." "So go ring them, it's not that late." "It's not that easy PJ." "What do you mean?" "I mean they thought & still do I presume, I was stupid to come to the, and I quote 'country-bumpkin town without a decent shopping mall' and 'why go there? It's barely got a population let alone a crime rate..." "No crime-rate my a..." "What about you?" Maggie changed the subject quickly and as PJ looked down at her the moonlight entering the room showed the glistening of unshed tears on her eyes. "What about me what?" "Jo!" "Yeah, she's alright I guess." "You said that before, I mean what do you really think of her? It's not half obvious that Ben and Jack think she wouldn't be a bad catch so to speak, but you?" she looked up and kissed his jawline. PJ raised his eyebrows. "Go on, say it... I don't mind." "She's cute I guess." "What do you mean, 'I guess!'" "I mean I'm not looking, I have you!" "Suck, It's only because you're *way* to old for her, I mean, take say 15 years of and you reckon you'd make a move?" "15 years!" He pinched her on the butt and she gave a little yelp. "Yeah 15 and I reckon you'd be in with a chance." Maggie slid her arm around him and pulled herself closer, and PJ instinctively did the same thing burying her head in his shoulder she mumbled something incomprehensible. "Mags, can't hear you." She pulled back out of his chest and went back to tracing shapes on his chest with her index finger before speaking again. "I said, I'm going to miss you so much." Her voice shook. "Hey," he rubbed her back soothingly, "we agreed not to be sad about this, didn't we?" She nodded burying her head into him once again. "But I don't want to go." "I don't want you to go either." "So, I'll stay!" "Uh-uh," we agreed, "it's time." "Yeah, I know. But you have to promise me something." "Anything!" "You'll find someone, someone wonderful, beautiful and intelligent and fall in love with her. And be happy with her for the rest of your life." Maggie looked up at PJ and smiled at him genuinely. "But I have, it's you!" "PJ," Maggie whined. "Don't!" "I love you." "I know" "Don't you me?" "I can't say it PJ, it's too hard, it just makes everything so much harder and so much more complicated." "But do you?" "Yeah, very much." Once again PJ pulled Maggie in close to him and kissed her. She returned the kiss before closing her eyes and falling asleep with her head on his chest in the moonlight THE END Feedback: suzie@standard.net.au
